Debbie Gibson established herself as an important pop singer towards the end of the 80s. She was lost to newer artists but continued to make her music. Gibson was born on August 31st, 1970 in Long Island, New York City. Gibson is a Virgo, with the Italian/Sicilian German as well as an a bit Russian origin. She is the third of three children and is the daughter Diane Gibson and Joseph Gibson. She was a piano teacher alongside Morton Estrin when she was as a young child. The beginning of her career came in 1983 when she wrote the song I Come From America and sent a recording of the song to WOR, as part of the station's contest. Her mother then converted her garage to recording studio when she was awarded the prize. After arriving in her native United States, she began an extensive tour in order to promote her track. She spent 1986-87 building her library of song lyrics while traveling.
